Compatible Graphics Cards

By kev.baker ·
What should i be looking out for to find a graphics card that is compatible for my motherboard.

My brother currently has an ASUS M2NPV-VM mohterboard and would like to upgrade the graphics card for better gaming.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

Budget

You give no idea of your budget but thankfully the motherboard your using is nice and up to date with a PCI Express x16 slot so your options are plentiful.

I'd suggest either a Nvidia 8800GT for somewhere around ?170-180 or if you've got the cash to splash you can go all out and pick up an Nvidia 8800GTX for ?380.

i was just wanting some pointers on what i should be looking at to make sure its compatible but advise on what gc to purchase is just as helpful. unfortunately my brother is a tight arse so he'll ony splash out ?60, i have however found a couple of cheap cards which i think will make a noticable improvement to his computer gaming. GeForce 8600GT??? if you have any suggestions on his budget it would be much appreciated.

the 8600GT, its returned less than stellar results when tested:

If you have no need for DirectX 10 your better off seeing if you can pick up a higher end 7 series.
