Completely Removing a Domain Controller

By TechKnowledgeComputers ·
Hey everyone, I am having an issue when I remove my domain controller for testing in Windows Server 2008. I am just trying to remove everything, and start fresh.

I used the dcpromo.exe to remove the Domain, than I used Server Manager to remove the AD DS, and DNS roles from my server. Which has all been done successfully.

My problem is I still have the files left like the SYSVOL. And when I go to create a new domain, its tries to bring back my old domain. I have followed every step in every microsoft guide. And the AD DS files are still there.

The guide tells me to run dcpromo and remove the domain, than to remove the roles. Which I have done and they worked. But I am just not sure where ALL the files go. I only know about the SYSVOL, and it is still there.

Dont know what to do.
I need help with this please and thank you.
