Comprehensive IT asset management

by steven_sebele . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

I have recently started working for a new company, who prior to a few months ago was way behind the times. From what I see there is about 100 to 150 PC?s and various networked printers spread across 4 buildings all within a close vicinity, are all connected with fiber. The idea has recently come up to implement some form of asset management system to track all network hardware, software licensing and generally any other information possible. We are using active directory and all windows based platforms (2000+) Vista will not be considered for a long while.

We currently use Remote Administrator 2.2 a system that had something like this already incorporated would be favorable.

I was just looking for some guidance on where to start, and recommendations from people using systems already in place.

One system that seems to look pretty nice (that I have found) would be www.netsupportdna.com .

Thanks for any help,
Steve
