compress files

By bywhatnow ·
When using disk clean up how do you get it to stop looking to compress old files. I never use this feature and it takes a long time to get past.

Go into the settings of the program in question...

And see if you can de-select this option.

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.

re: deselecting compress files

I have taken the check mark out of it.....but when its scanning for disk cleanup it still scanns this section and gives me how much space I can "save" by doing this. On drives that are over 250Gb this just seems like a waste of time

How else are you going to save space ?...

If the old files don't get compressed ?

On any medium sized system, once confirmed, I'd leave it run overnight for file compression. That way you don't notice the time it takes.

Being as it is part of the Windows system, I'd avoid trying to alter the settings.
