CompTIA A+ course online?

By jvfalcone ·
I want to get A+ Certified, and since I currently work full time in helpdesk and network supprot, I've been thinking about taking it online. Is this a good move? Anyone have experience with the online version?

Online CompTIA A+ course

by bpb21 In reply to CompTIA A+ course online?

I was recently A+ certified by CompTIA. The exams are nice as it is all computerized and you immediately see whether you pass or fail.

If you currently work as a support tech, you might want to pick up a copy of one of the books of practice questions and try that first. I found I was able to review the practice questions and I did sufficiently good on the included practice tests to feel confident in my existing knowledge without taking review courses. I did pass both tests for A+ certification with only this study but I've been performing a support tech role (and hobbyist otherwise) for quite some time. This will depend, for you, on how much experience you have and how much you are willing to spend for preparation. Regardless, I would definitely recommend picking up a book of practice questions with a couple of practice tests included on a CD-ROM, to start with, and use that to evaluate whether you really need to invest in more study. If you're already a support tech, you may have accumulated enough knowledge/experience to save some money on reviewing for certification. For the A+ exam, you may well find that the online course wouldn't differ much from what you would get out of a thorough practice question/test review book. This isn't the case for other CompTIA certifications, where you may want some experience with online "lab" settings.

CompTIA A+ course

Go to Ed2Go.com. This is only one of their courses for CompTIAA+...........

Basic CompTIA A+ Certification Prep
Time to roll up those sleeves and dive inside the personal computer! The Basic CompTIA A+ Certification Prep course teaches you about the hardware common to virtually every personal computer, including microprocessors, RAM, power supplies, motherboards, BIOS, CMOS, the expansion bus, and input/output devices. This course gives you the knowledge upon which you???ll base the rest of your CompTIA A+ certification studies for the exams that debuted in late 2009.

There are also Intermediate and Advanced courses. I have taken a couple of OS classes and found them excellent and thorough. Good place.

Computer technician training at Career Step

I've heard about this school: Computer technician training at Career Step. Their technician's training program is essentially a CompTIA A+ certification course; if you're scouting and comparing programs online, you should add them to your list.
