Computer Account

By carrport46 ·
I have a w2k pro box that was a member of my domain but I'm now getting the following error message:

the system's computer account in its primary domain is missing

Active Directory shows it being there with pre-Windows 2000 name but no dns name and and DHCP shows its address but no computer name.

Delete the AD computer object
Delete any DNS record
Delete any DHCP record
Rejoin to the domain

You can use the NETDOm utility to redo the trust with the computer and the domain or remove the computer from AD Users and Computers, readd it in the same MMC and then joing the domain from the computer.

Ensure that the Win2KPro computer has got a Primary/Secondary DNS as the IP address of the Domain Controller.
Remove the computer from the domain and join a WORKGROUP. Then rejoin the domain.
