Hi guys, apologies for starting my membership with a question.
Long story short, my computer is making a continuous alternating high/low system beep when it tries to load windows before turning itself off.
This seems to be listed on the web as CPU-related, typically overheating, but it is not overheating, and is getting all the way through POST, windows preload, welcome screen, but crashes somewhere around the welcome screen / starting up the windows desktop.
Has me buggered, short of replacing mobo and CPU and hoping it wasn’t just a software problem.
The motherboard is a gigabyte GA-7VT600. CPU is a Sempron 2600+.
Began happening this morning after cleaning PSU fan as it made a horrible grinding noise. Seems coincidental but I don’t think it’s related… the fan is working fine, voltages are fine…
Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
