Computer Damage in Student Labs

by yirwin . Updated 20 years, 9 months ago

At my college for women, there are a number of computer labs used for computing lab classes and also for students to do general computing work (email, papers, surfing). The labs are locked nightly and all user accounts closed at that time.
We are finding more and more cases where equipment (e.g. scanners) has been disconnected and moved to other labs, speakers disconnected and never found again, damaged audio ports where some student evidently tried to insert some other device, etc.
Security cards have been installed in all PCs in all labs. There has been no evidence of outside intrusion.
Is there any way can we prevent removal or addition of peripherals other than putting some sort of monitor in every lab?
Is there any way we can log if any peripheral was removed or changed on a certain PC by date/time/PC name?
