computer freeze after log-in

Right after I logged into my computer, it froze and it would not let me into the Windows 98 desktop and the cursor just stayed there. The only not responing program was mprexe.exe.When I ended it the computer still did nothing. The only thing I could do was restart the computer. Then it worked. This occurs various times through out the week.
