Computer is Frozen

By rholguin ·
I was installing the demo for webcam32 then it reboot the system to complete the installation...my problem is that it never came up again, it freezes up as soon as it displays the splash screen "COMPAQ". I can't even boot from the a: drive using a boot disk because the system didn't load the drives...any ideas as to what I can do to get my system back up and running...

I'm running win98 on a Compaq ez2600...thanks

Reboot your PC to the Safe Mode and uninstall the webcam32. Then reboot your PC again. The device is probably not compatible to your system.

pay special attention to the startup screen before the compac logo appears,(using the pause key), often it will provide a clue as to whether a configuration file was alterd or overwritten by the driver to accomodate the new hardware, i.e (himem missing or corrupt). Once it's corrected or recopied to the current directory then use your boot floppy and start in safe mode. hope this helps, R.B.
