Computer name change

By jsarinana ·
Running XP PRof. on a Windows 2000 network includes DHCP, DNS, WINS and Exchange 2000.
How do I change the computer name, I get the following error:
"The following error occurred attempting to rename the computer "computername"
Multiple connections to server or shared resource bt the same user, using more then one user name, are not allowed. Discconect all previous connections to the server resource and try again"
any suggesting ?

Try removing the pc from the domain to a local workgroup--make up a name. Reboot. Change the name. Reboot. Add the pc back into the domain with the new pc name.

Disconnect them from domain, reboot, change name, reboot, create a new account in the server, join domain.

//edit: Uh. Delete the old account from the server before joining them to the domain though
And reboot after joining.
