Computer Reboots

By sacsaba ·
I currently have a problem with a PC running Windows 2000 Professional which reboots every so often, I have reseated the cards and chip and checked the power supply and all seems in order.

In the applications log, two events are logged before thePC reboots, the first is "NPROTECT SERVICE" folowed a few seconds later by "WMDM PMSP Service, any help appreciated.

nprotect is related to symantec norton utilities. try uninstalling the program and see if the problem stops. If so, then re-install the program again and see if it comes back again.
wmdm refers to the windows media player. Possibly you have a conflict going on......

I tried disabling Norton utilities and it seems to have solved the problem, I will completely uninstall it later and re-installl it to see if the problem returns.

Thanks
