Computer restart before log on complete

By gmoe13 ·
Error in Event viewer on Windows XP OS. I'm able to log on the computer using "Safemode", and I saw error message in event viewer "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
eabfiltr"

This is a HP xe4500 ominbook laptop and 2 machines have just fail to start normally any suggestions.
I'm currently researching the boot file.

Could be due to some 3rd party software such as HP/COmpaq's key software which installs eabsrvr.exe and eabfiltr.sys

Looks like you need to do a repair install from XP CD to get it to boot or boot into recovery console to disable that driver.

Try running services.msc to disable the service. Also, run msconfig, to see if there are any startup items that need to be disabled.
