Hi, I have a Toshiba Tecra laptop, about two years old. Yesterday I was working on it and the screen suddenly turned black and gradually faded to white, and I could do nothing but turn the computer off and back on. When I did this, it displayed the Windows XP loading screen, and then the screen turned black again.
I successfully booted the machine in Safe Mode, and there were no problems. However, every time I have tried to run Windows normally, the screen has gone black. One time, Windows loaded and I was able to see my desktop for a few seconds before the screen wene blank. Unfortunately this has not happened since.
When the screen goes blank, the hard drive gets very loud as if it’s working hard. I don’t know why any of this is happening – I have not made any drastic changes; I didn’t even press any buttons or click on anything when it first happened.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this may have happened? I would really appreciate any help people can give. Thanks!
