Computer startup problem

by manhunt_ex . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

I’ve been having a severely annoying problem with my computer now for about the last 3 weeks. I’ve continuously had to start up my computer, log in, and then enter task manager and continuously close and restart a broken explorer.exe. What do I mean by broken? Simply, when I logged into my administrator account, my toolbar at the bottom (one with all the start menu stuff) refused to open its content. Thus, I sat there and waited for extremely long periods of time. 2 hours at some times and finally it would load, sometimes it wouldn’t even load then. It got to a point where I had to continuously close and restart the explorer.exe function about 4-5 times before my toolbar became functional again.

About 2 weeks into the problem, I realized that if I stood on the windows XP home login page, the one with the list of the user accounts, and waited for about 30 minutes, I could log in and my computer toolbar would be fine and workable. Doing this, caused my computer to shut down it’s audio functions. So then I have to repeat the extremely repetitive task of start > run > services.msc > windows audio > automatic start.

Can someone tel me how to fix this?
