Computer will not boot!

By MBR2 ·
I have a computer that will not boot. I turn it on and it just sits there, and the monitor
tells me to check the signal or no signal input. I am guessing this is the reason the
computer stops the boot up. Am I correct?
Should I replace the videocard?

"No signal" on the monitor means it's not receiving anything from your computer, but it may or may not be the video card.

Some things to consider: does the light come on, does it make any beeps, can you hear the fans running?

If the answer to these questions is "No", then it may be your power supply. If the answer is "Yes", then the number of beeps may be a diagnostic clue. Your motherboard manual may have some info on that.

If you're getting power but nothing else, it could be motherboard, memory, video card.

Without more info it's hard to be more specific. You could try replacing the video card, but I doubt that would help.
