I have 2 computers. Let’s call them CompA and CompB. I am having a problem with CompA as I have found that it seems to have two names.
Both CompA and CompB show their proper names when you look in My Computer, or if you check the registry key. However, when I ping the systems, something isn’t right.
If I ping them by their names (ie: CompA.domain) the IP shows as it is supposed to.
If I ping (using ping -a) by IP, BOTH computers show the name of CompB!
If I ping CompA’s IP, it should return CompA’s name, not CompB’s name.
How can I fix this problem?
