Title says it all really. Tried to install a new ninja CPU heatsink yesterday but upon trying to start up my computer afterwards I get a brief flick of power (I can see the CPU fan flick briefly) and then nothing.
Disconnecting the hard drive results in a normal boot. It recognises the CPU, memory, floppy and DVD drive but then obviously gets no further without a bootable medium.
The obvious thing that springs to mind is that I damaged the hard drive during the install of the new heatsink but was wondering if anyone could shed any other light on this. The other thing I thought could be a possibility is a problem with the power unit (not supplying enough) but not really sure.
I should also add that I have also removed the new heatsink+fan and reinstalled the old one and I’m getting the same problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
