Computer won’t recognise 1200 diamond plus Scanner

My computer will not recognise the scanner. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything but it still doesn’t recognise the scanner. Also in the manual it says there should be a power adapter as well as USB connection but I can’t find any socket on scanner for it??
