Computer wont recognise PNY usb 2.0 flash drive 4gb

By paulhay1 ·
When I put the flash drive in usb port my computer running XP gives found new hardware wizard window it has recognized it as USB Disk 2.0

When i go through installation it states

Cannot install hardware
Software was not found.

i have 2 other 256mb sticks which are recognized instantly as removable drive J:

Also the 4gb was recognised on 2 other computers my sons and my works . they both run XP as well. What can the problem be?

Search the Web

Are you allowing the new hardware wizard to search the Internet for a driver?

This PNY drive may need a newer driver than is on your XP system. Allow the new hardware wizard to search the Internet this time only. You should end up with a newer driver.

You might also try the Microsoft Update web site and check for optional and hardware updates for your system.

Thinking about this, I have run into a couple of USB 2.0 devices that will not install on USB 1.1 ports.
