Computer won’t shutdown

Dear Sirs, my computer will no longer shutdown and all this started to happen after I replaced a DVD player for a new one. I also installed a wireless USB hub for a B Network by Linksys.
Any suggestions? I already reset the BIOS on the motherboard.
At first it would just restart by itself, but now it just hungs at the end where it says that system is shutting down, but it never does it.

To help us out a bit:

What version of Windows are you using?

Did you install any software with DVD drive?

Is it a DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drive?

Ususally when a problem occurs after hardware or software changes, it is related to changes made. However, need more specifics on your system and software.

I have Windows XP S2 and it was a DVD-ROM the one I replaced.

I have seen this with adaware on a PC.
I used SprBrots, Ad-Aware, and MS AntiSpyware to remove adware and spyware.

I use all three to remove adware and spyware.
at least twice a week on my home pcs.
I also use Ad-Aware at work twice at week.
It keeps them clean.

I also use EasyCleaner, is a good registry cleaner
and does others things. Helps clean up the registry that the other three do not get.

also update your anti-virus and check your hard drive.
