Computers Near Me

By stuart_ray ·
W2K has a very useful facility("Computers Near Me")to display the computers on the local lan.
Can this facility be added to XP which does not have it?. Going via "My Network Places/Entire network/Microsoft Windows Network" takes minutes.(Why is this search so sloooow?) I know that links can be saved in "My Newtork Places" but this list does not indicate which ones are currently available.
