My new(ish) supervisor came from a software development environment. Because of this, I thought she actually knew something about the technical world…boy, was I wrong! We had a very good Help Desk and I was one of the top performers, everyone comes to me when they have questions, and I have always come up with good ideas for making the Help Desk more productive (and life easier for the technicians). Well, talk about throwing a wrench into the works, this woman treats us not like the professionals we are, but like peons who need to be spoken to in the most condescending of ways. Even when she gives a comment, it’s a backhanded one. She’s “nice” when she wants to be, but in Help Desk meetings you would think she was someone completely different. She second guesses every idea, and if there is an issue with one of the technicians, she will ensure that we all get reamed for it… I have been trying to get out of the Help Desk (the work I do is actually systems administration and more project-based) but feel I’m stuck. There is another group I would like to join, and would make sense for me to be a . This is a great company, one that offers not only 401K but a pension, and I make a good salary, but I’m finding that I’m losing my passion and caring for the job. I really don’t want to leave, so I’m just trying to figure out how to keep my sanity and not become a whiner like one of my co-workers. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you.
