    Locked

    by ecazarez ·

I have a LAN and all the PCs are connecting to the internet thru the proxy, but I also have a Macintosh and I have tried several times to configure it without results. Does someebody know what to do to get a Macintosh working with MS Proxy server?

On your Proxy- set socks permissions to permit-all for source and destination on ports ge 0. Then the mac’s need to be configured using ip addresses(not server names) for the all servers (mail, dns, proxy etc.)This will allow your macintoch traffic throught MS Proxy. good luck

The above answer should work. But you might want to think about using a program called DAVE by Thursby Systems on the Mac. It allows full SMB on the Mac. This eliminates to use the Services For Macintosh on NT. Your Mac has the same login and security functionality as your PC.
I have a couple of Macs in my Domain and also currently use MS Proxy 2.0 for the Internet connection. The Mac connects fine after DAVE is installed and the Proxy is set in Internet Explorer. Although I haven’t been able to get Netscape to funtion through the proxy.

Macintosh client support is focused in the following two areas:CERN complient browsers and SOCKS client applications. CERN complient browsers work with the web proxy
service.Browser installation and configuration instructions for the Macintosh
client are similar to other browser installation configuration procedures. Note:
SOCKS does not use true Windows NT Challenge
/Response Instead it uses IP addresses (IDENTD) protocol to authenticate socks proxy clients.REMEMBER OBI-WAN the socks proxyservice is dependent on the web proxy
service. If web proxy is disabled or fails, the socks proxy will not be available
Remember the tooth Duke Leto Atrayiedes All SOCKS client requests are denied by default.
To enable SOCKS client request access you must define SOCKS PERMISSION RULES on the proxy server.Defining a source and destination address, port range, and selecting whether the access is granted or denied
“MAKES UP A RULE” Hope this guides you to where you need to go. [email protected]
