I’m having a hard time configuring IP and DNS with the following setup:
Frac T1 -> Router -> connection3 -> SBS -> Server Local Area Connection -> Switch -> LAN
Server Config
+ System: Dell PowerEdge 2900
+ OS: SBS 2003 R2 Premium Edition
+ NIC: Dual Embedded Broadcom? NetXtreme II + 5708 Gigabit Ethernet NIC (disabled)
+ Intel? PRO 1000PT Dual Port Server Adapter, Gigabit NIC
+ LOM NICs are TOE Ready)
+ Dell Remote Access Card, 5th Generation for PowerEdge Remote Management
Router
+ Machine: Linksys WRT54GS
+ ISP: XO.net Frac T1
+ WAN IP: Static given by ISP
+ GW: Static given by ISP
+ DNS: Static given by ISP
+ Subnet: 255.255.255.0
+ LAN IP: 192.168.1.1
+ DHCP: Disabled
Connection3 (Port A on the Intel Dual-port)
+ IP: 192.168.1.10
+ Subnet: 255.255.255.0
+ GW: 192.168.1.1
+ DNS: 192.168.16.2
Server Local Area Connection (Port B on the Inter Dual-Port)
+ IP: 192.168.16.2
+ Subnet: 255.255.255.0
+ GW: Blank
+ DNS: 192.168.16.2
+ WINS: 192.168.16.2
Is there anything wrong with this setup? I have no internet connection from the server and I can’t even ping router from the server (obvious). When I change the TCP/IP setting fro ‘Connection 3’, I get
“Warning: Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a
single network such as and Intranet or the Internet. They will not function
properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks (such as
one on your intranet and one on the Internet). Do you want to save this
configuration?”
Also, when I first check DHCP server, pooling was set to, forgot exact range, 192.168.1.x to 192.168.1.xx
