Configuring HP Network Printer

by bharris1102 . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

I have a requirement to be able to programmatically set the network address, subnet mask, and gateway address on a HP P1505n printer. When the printer is 1st connected, it tries to get a DHCP address. Failing that it assigns a default address of 169.254.241.24. My network does not support DHCP so I get the default address.

Given that the address is known, is there a way I can send commands to the printer to reset the network information to the values I need? Some HP printers support Telnet, but this one apparently does not. Also, I have an older version of the “HP Install Network Printer Wizard” that can detect the printer and set its network values. This proves to me that there must be some way to communicate commands to the printer. However, this is a GUI tool and I can’t use it.

Any ideas or pointers would be appreciated.
