Configuring Remote Assistance

At our Help Desk, we are looking at implementation of the Remote Assistance tool that is built in to Windows XP. Currently for remote access to a user's workstation we use a program called VNC. The Remote Assistant seems to be superior in nearly every way except for one problem, the problem being that in order to use Remote Assistance, a user needs to already be logged in to the 'Novice' workstation. Now you might be saying "Well duh!", but VNC allows us to remote into a workstation before anyone has actually logged in. This is helpful because sometimes the only way to figure out why someone can't log in is to see their log in prompt (this is especially true if you have any users that log in to a Novell server). So Basically I am asking if anyone knows of a way to configure the group policy so that it is possible to Offer Remote Assistance to a 'Novice' workstation when no one has yet logged in.
