Configuring Sound Properties

By john.cb1 ·
I have just bought a CD-RW/DVD-Rom. I would like to enable it so that when i put a DVD in it sound will come out. I have a Creative Sound Blaster 1024 Live sound card and i attacehed one of my leads from the Cd Audio slot to the other cd rom Audio slot. I have noticed that i can attach a SDDIF connecter from my Soundcard to my CD-RW/DVD-Rom. How do i set up my sound configuration to play both cd and DVD (Audio andDigital) but not at the same time. I am using Windows XP Professional OS.

Actually, most sound software uses the digital data off of the IDE buss.

Unless you specifically disable the digital data option for the drive, you do not even need the audio cable anymore.

If you wish to use the analog audio, connect 1 drive to CD in, and the other to the AUX input on the sound card.

In mixer console, enable the AUX input and set the volume level.
