COnfiguring syslog server for my router.

All depends on how offen do you need to analyze your log files, do you need to create reports, do accounting, send notifications, etc.

Simpliest and cheapest way is just install Linux computer. Any *NIX system has Syslog services by default. Butit may take some time to automate log files processing (like splitting by certain congitions, archiving, etc). If you have a time, know UNIX a little and can programm, you can do it for mostly free.

Another "opposite solution" - buy dedicated solution. For example, we have an appliance, named PrivateI. It's "Advanced Syslog Server", which takes care about all log parsings, you may filter events, you may create reports, you even can send notifications (i.e. e-mails or pagers), when something happend.

I tried to find something between, but there are not so many good products in this field. I spend a few monthes evaluation different "Super Syslog Servers", but they either very simple and don't give required functionality, or too expensive for what they give.

Good luck,
