By N_Delorme_04 ·
so yah my cousin's computer was all messed up and well i tried to clean it out for him but it was beyond any help that i could offer so i thought that the xp disk that i had would have worked on it and well it seemed to work at the begining it formatted the hard drive then when it came to installing xp on it it would get up to copying of the files and yah would just freeze, now i have a blank hard drive and none of the disks that i have woudl work on it. two are copied disks from friends os's and then the third is from a computer company called MDG. if there is any feedback that i could get on this it would be very much appreciated. thnx in advance.

Hi,
Is this computer desktop or laptop?
Its the same but in later case you must be more carefull.First disconnect it from the power.
You open the computer and on the motherboard youll see a battery.Take it out gently,it will have some sort of pin for securing it.Then put it back gently.
That is bios battery and sometimes it helps to remove it.Be carefull what you touch inside though or you can use surgical gloves to be sure(it sounds silly but...)
try to get ORIGINAL XP HOME EDITION CD.
then you can try to install.Later you can upgrade to Pro.
I had exactly same symptoms on my desktop and that is how i fixed it.Before that i spent about 9 hours running XP Pro setup and recovery console to only get to driver copy phase.
