Connect Mac G4 with Linksys Wireless LAN

by thestudent . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

I have a 3-node Wireless IEEE 802.11b network with a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless switch as the access point. The 3-nodes are equipped with Linksys cards. Now, I am trying to allow a Mac G4 Powerbook with built-in 802.11 card connect. The G4 sees the network and seems to connect in the sense that I can ping it by name or IP address from a nearby PC. Unfortunately, the G4 cannot access networked resources like Web pages or shared folders.

The IEEE 802.11b network uses Channel 6, has an alphabetic and numeric name (no funky characters) and for the time being, there is no WEP encryption.

With almost no configurations to adjust on the Mac, I don’t know what to do. Oh yes, the Mac is a dual boot into OS 9 or OS 10. I have tried connecting via both operating systems without success.

I would greatly appreciate any help that could get us connected.
