Connect to Printer over http:/

by authenticxyz . Updated 17 years, 3 months ago

Hi. I am having a little trouble. I am trying to connect to my network printer at my house from another location. I have tried a few ways that I am sure one should work however I’m having no luck. Let’s say my router ip is 12.345.678.90 The network ip ofm y printer is 192.168.1.102 I can connect to my router (which is a lynksys wireless) in the web browser by typing 12.345.678.90:8080. I can see my router software and change settings just like normal. When I go to add a printer in Vista Home I am doing the following:

Control panel->printers->add printer
I select “Add a Network, Wireless, or Bluetooth printer”
I click the printer that I want isn’t listed
I check “select shared printer by name” and type this format::

http://12.345.678.90/192.168.1.102

I also tried::

http://12.345.678.90:8080/192.168.1.102

I tried that since you have to specify the management port when you connect to a router through http. I also have trouble connecting to my computer through remote desktop. I have setup many remote desktop connections and have never had any issue. I have comcast and they tell me my dynamic ip is different than the ip in my router status tab. That is all info I can provide. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks
