connect windows 98 client to w2k domain

by avalentino . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

I have read many articles about networking a windows 98 client to a w2k domain. Here is the situation: My company aquired another company that used a WinNT Server and Win98 clients. I already decomissioned the NT Server (I do not need it anymore). However, I can not get the Windows 98 clients to authenticated into the domain.

Steps taken so far:
Server:
1) I have added the new users into Active Directory
Win98 Client:
1) Client for Microsoft Network Properties (unchecked log on to windows nt domain, i have tried with and without a check)
2) TCP/IP Properties: IP Address “Obtain an IP address automatically” is checked. WINS Configuration “Enable WINS Resolution” & I added the WINS server IP (domain controller). Gateway I added the new router information. DNS Configuration “Enable DNS” is checked, the host is the pc name, domain is the domain new domain name, DNS Server search order has the domain controller IP 1st, Domain Suffix search order has the domain name added domain.net”. All bindings are checked (Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Print sharing for microsoft networks, microsoft family logon). Advanced Property Allow Binding to ATM, value = no, “Set this protocol to be the default protocol” is checked. NetBIOS the box is checked to enable netBIOS over TCP/IP.

I know that is a lot of information, please help.

Thanks!

Anthony
