Connecting 4K display over USB Type-C

Hello, I’m new here and hope you can help me with my problem.

I am trying to connect a 4K monitor to my PC, using an USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

    My hardware setup is:

CPU Intel 6700K with HD530 graphics
    Mainboard Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P (rev. 1.0) (Intel Z170 + ASMedia ASM1142)
    Display Philips 276E8VJSB/11
Cable Uni USB-C to DisplayPort cable
    OS Windows 10 64-bit

I though I could connect the display to the USB-C port on the mainboard and it would be able to display over internal graphics,
but when I do, there is no signal coming to the monitor.
My assumption is that it is a misunderstanding on my part what the capabilities of my mainboard are.
I would be very thankful if somebody could explain to me why exactly my setup doesn’t work. (…or suggest a working solution, if one exists 🙂 )
    Thank you in advance!

The USB-c port on the back is not for display output, it is just a usb port. You need to connect the monitor through HDMI, VGA, or DVI, however, there is software you can download to allow you to, but you need to connect a monitor to the regular ports first.
