Hi for the audio connection it is a matter of choice, ie if you want to wear out your CDRW or the CDrom, I guess that this is what they ment buy using your CDRW for normal every day use rather than for burning only.

First, I would seriously doubt that in all practicallity you could burn out the laser on your CD drive. Use whichever CD player you wish. Personally, I have the audio cable plugged into my CDROM but for no particular reason.

You made the right choice my having your hard drives on your primary IDE controller and your CD drives on your secondary IDE controller. The reason being, if you coping from your hard drive to your CDRW, both IDE channels are being utilized and there is less of a chance of a buffer-underrun (that is, the CDRW isn’t supplied with enough data and you get a bad cd/coaster).

However, this seems like less of a problem with todays faster computers and when you have pleanty of RAM on your system, it’s rare to have problems related to how your IDE channels are configured. But basically, IDE channels are not good at ‘sharing’ so if you are coping directly from your CDROM to your CDRW there is a chance you could have problems. If so, just record to the HD and then to your CDRW.

As for your MP3 question, you have to convert your MP3’s to .wav format. Fortunately this is easy to do and you can use almost any program to do it. I would recommend winamp http://www.winamp.com

Just run winamp, and in the preferences section tell it to output your file to your hard drive (as opposed to your speakers) and in seconds your MP3’s are converted into .WAV files.

From there, just use your favorite CD recording software. You probably got EZ-CD creator withyour drive but someday when you have more experience and want more control of your CDs, use Nero, http://www.ahead.de
