I have a client that has two Apple’s running appletalk to peer-to-peer with each other. They want to connect a NT 4.0 WS to this network. Can this be done just using the TCP/IP protocal? What is the procedure. Is there any special software needed.

You need to install the Apple Talk Protocol on the NT Workstation.

      Hello,

In the Network control panel, add the network service: Services for Macintosh

Reboot your server. Open up Server Manager, select the server you installed the services under. In the menu bar, while the server is selected, there is a MacFile\Macintosh type menu item, click to set yp volumes accessible via the Mac.

On the Mac side: make sure TCP/IP and AppleTalk are installed and active in the extensions manager. Go into control panel -> AppleTalk. Set the media type to Ethernet, allow time for setting change. In the Apple menu open Chooser, select AppleTalk, and your server should be listed. Double-click, select the volumes to open, and you should be all set!
