Connecting Android devices to Windows networks

by branty1970 . Updated 13 years, 4 months ago

I have a Windows network (Windows 2008 R2 server, Windows clients including Windows 7 & 8) and this all works perfectly. I also have an Android device that I want to use to browse shares set up on the Windows server. I can manage this but I get, apparently random, disconnects from the network and have to get the Android device to re-authenticate.

I’m sure this must be something to do with the Windows security model – the Authentication only being valid for a limited time before it needs to be renewed. But I can’t work out how to extend this or stop it from killing the connection. It’s not normally a problem but if I want to stream media from the Windows server to the Android the disconnect gets very frustrating.

Can anyone suggest a way to get around this?

Thanks.
