That adapter is from ADC to DVI

by robo_dev In reply to CONNECTING APPLE MONITOR ...

ADC is apple's non-standard DVI that combined video + power.

The adapter converts to DVI and has a USB cord to feed it power.

Does your HP Desktop have a DVI port?

You should not need a DVI crossover since that adapter has a DVI plug on it.

What does the display port on the desktop look like?

by cpguru21 In reply to CONNECTING APPLE MONITOR ...

Does the desktop have VGA or DVI or HDMI? Without knowing what is on your desktop end it is hard to give you good instructions.

A little more information and we can get this hammered out for you.

Thanks,

The DVI is the white one, VGA the blue one. If you only have the VGA look at adding a video card to your computer.

Well the DVI end that plugs in to the computer should fit right in to the left hand port on your desktop. Have you tried this yet? I believe the USB cord is for USB ports that are on the display itself.

I am not sure if we should give you additional trouble shooting steps ie: not sure if you tried plugging in and its not working.

You do not need a cross over cable to plug this in, and you will not harm anything on the computer by trying, just dont force it. It should go right into the connector on the HP desktop. Based on pictures online of the A1006 adapter anyway.
