    Locked

    by jmiller ·

Recently purchased a Linksys EtherFast 10/100 20GB GigaDrive I have a couple of DOS PC that need to access it thru IP. It’s been so long since I’ve worked with DOS any one remember/know how to connect to an TCP/IP network with dos.

Are these dos only PCs? It has been awhile but, I think you have to install an IP Protocol Stack. The “Chameleon” program used to do a fairly good job with Dos/Win3.x, but there were other programs that worked too. Hope this points you in the right direction.

Well, to be short and to the point (like your question), you can get a dos w/s onto a novell network by downloading the 2.71 client for dos from http://www.novell.com/download/#Clients – Network
and installing it. You just have specify you want itset up with IP protocol (you’ll need to either manually assign your w/s IP address, or have it get it dynamically from a DHCP server). That should do it.

I have try to connect my dos workstation with netware software thru IP . There is NWIP server included with netware server. Just setup the software. They use DSS server too.
You can use bootp too, it’s simple program with little configuration
