Connecting to Exchange Server through BD

By bstroh ·
My question is actually similar to Talbot's and I am wondering if the I need to do something similar.

I have recently installed Proxy Server on my BDC. I added the second network card and created a DHCP server with the intenal IP address, excluding a hand full of address for static use. Originally the the problem I had implimenting is Script Logic wouldn't run properly when using internal addressing. For the most part that seems to have worked itself out. Now my only remaining trouble is connecting to the exchange server. Whether connecting using DHCP or static internal IP, when opening outlook the connection times out and you get the message asking if you want to work off line. If I hit retry I will connect. Also once connected message delivery seems to be significantly delayed.

You need to include two configuration files on your exchange server. These files are called wspcfg.ini. They contain details of port bindings etc. There are instructions on the Microsoft website for implementing this. I have just gone through this process myself, it is not too labour intensive.

thanks for responding. I looked up the articles on Microsoft and found three that refrence this but all three are speaking of the Exchange Server being behind the Proxy Server. So I guess that means that I have to put the Exchange Server behind the firewall and then if I experience problems or even if I don't I should put these wspcfg.ini files in? Am I getting that right?

thanks again for your help

Install Microsoft Proxy Client on Workstation and then enable or check mark the box on WSP Client icon from Control Panel that says, Use Winsock Proxy Client. Then click Update Now. Close MS Proxy Client applet. The changes are applied, you don't have to reboot. Start Outlook.

Enjoy!
