1. Running a single domain on this server and 7 workstations, all W98SE. They can’t browse the network through Network Neighborhood, yet can find the server name through Find Computer. I need employees to browse the network to access their shareddatabases and files (any other way would be too complicated for them). Keep in mind that I’m the Data Manager, but find myself becoming an on-the-fly Network Admin also (complete newbie at this). The network pro (paid big bucks by the boss, mind you) was out today and fixed the server to get that far, but seems like a half-ass job to me. I’m stuck trying to finish the job. I can temporarily put shortcuts on each desktop for the databases they need to access, but…
2. This so-called network pro couldn’t fix my dial-up modem to work on the server either (until the DSL guys figure out how to get that to work, lol). Plug-&-Pray wouldn’t work. This is a typical 56K WinModem. Any suggestions?
