Connection for Microsoft network

by zebra0 . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

Has anybody run into this problem where the nt client log on screen would not come up after a reboot or a cold start up? Here is the scenerio, IBM Laptop 600x, Hard drive was taken to an IBM shop and data was extracted. Hard drive was reimaged by IBM, User got laptop back and wasn’t able to log on to network due to the fact that the long window didn’t come up. The other factor is if you go to start and log off you will get the NT log on prompt. However this is a win98 delema where even though you removed the pcmcia card out of the network setting and let the system find the correct nic and reloaded the client for Microsoft network made sure the domain was put back in and wins is using use DHCP and then restart the machine. It still by passes the log on window and brings you back to a destop with everything running. Checked to see if there were a auto logon there wasn’t one setup, checked to see if there was anything out of the unusual in the registry there wasn’t. Anybody out there with a clue. Please help.

Thank You
