connection timeout on dialup networking

by dragonsrage99 In reply to connection timeout on dia ...

1stly who are you dialing into - ISP ?
if you verify the number you are dialing with the number in the DUN connection (dial-up Networking)
then you will probably need to verify excatly how the ISP lets people connect (the protocol) if its via static or dynamic Ip addresses, netbuie etc etc and click the apropiate box for each protocol
you also may need to check that you are not needing to dial 9 for an outside line if you are on a business premises, (if they are using digital phones you wonthave the option to dial out via a modem unless the port is specifed as a direct dial (contact your administrators to find out which lines are digital and which are analog)
if you are not in a business then another option is to actually dial the number you ISP gives you on a normal phone - if you hear a fax tone then the ISP's side of the connection is working - give that a try an email me bak if you dont have any success - dragonsrage99@yahoo.co.uk
