Connection w/ Outlook 2000 on NT 4.0

by mikekolo . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

A problem arose at work today, one of the new workstations was unable to connect to the exchange server through Outlook 2000.
I was trying to add the Microsoft Exchange Server service to a user profile.
When I entered the address of the exchange server and clicked the Check Name button to verify the user name, an error popped up.
The error message read as such:
The name could not be resolved. Network problems are preventing connection to the microsoft exchange server computer. Contact yoursystem administrator if the problem persists.
I tried to re-image the computer which did not help, although the same user profile can be created on a different computer.
All ping attempts work, except I am unable to ping the exchange server.
I tried to reinstall the TCP/IP stack, which fixed nothing.
Has anyone experienced such a network connectivity problem before? One where the computer works on all levels of network connectivity, except for when attempting to connect to one particular address.
