Connection with other comp. is problem

By kamran-saleem ·
Hi
I am network administrator in an organization.
I have installed windows xp pro on entire network and windows 2000 server on server computer. I have admintrative account. The problem is that whenever i tried to connect to other computer via ip address with other computer on the network it prompt me to connect as a guest on the other computer and does not accept any password as no computer is having guest account and password.
previously it was connected to other computer via ip address as administrative and log on to that computer as i have to take backup of entire network. But since 2 week i was not able to connect to other computer "both having windows xp installed " via ip address.
Please tell me where is the problem and how to connect to other computer having windows xp installed via ip address.

However communication between windows 2000 and xp is not problem but the problem is started between comunication between two computers having installed windows xp.

Thanks and regards

Kamran

What kind of account are you trying to connect with to the two machines? Is it a domain account? If so, is the global users group a member of the local users? Have you checked the shares exist/have the correct permissions? Have you installed SP2 for Windows, as this blocks file sharing by default?

In addition to the suggestions in answer 1 check and make sure that Simple File Sharing is turned off. See this link for instructions:
