Consolidating NT 4.0 networks with Win2k

by chad dykstra . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

My boss has laid before me the following project…to bring our two domains (NT4.0) underneath a new NT2k forest. A current network diagram would be as follows…

Two seperate domains, lets call them East and West. Both have and NT4 PDC.

West domain has exchange 5.5 server.

He wants to create a new forest with a new windows 2000 box and attach both domains to this new tree while leaving them NT4. So, in essence, we would have a new 2000 forest with two trees, east and west. The reasoning for this is to share exchange with our East domain.

First, is it even possible to have the trees NT4, or will we have to upgrade? My boss does NOT want to upgrade our PDCs to be 2k DCs (unfortunately, problem solved..). If it IS possible, how do I go about this process?

Thanks in advance,
