I’ve been asked to look into the possibility of consolidating all our servers ie sequel, IIS, Domino, file etc. I don’t mean run everyting on one server but place more databases/applications on a single server.
Over time servers have sprung up all over our organisation with each department hosting their own. In most cases these boxes are grosely under utilized
Is there a methodology or framework out there that would help me to
a) Determine what needs to be done to see if consolidation is possible
b) What tools I would need to help me. eg tools to monitor capacity on servers etc
