Today a topic in TechRepublic is Control Hyperlink behavior. The directions for controling how Word 2000 auto formats as you type is correct and I understand the steps. (Word 97/2000, you can teach those users to change Word’s default behavior for creating hyperlinks. Go to Tools | AutoCorrect and click the AutoFormat As You Type tab. In the Replace As You Type section, deselect the Internet And Network Paths With Hyperlinks check box. Users can still insert live hyperlinks by going to Insert | Hyperlink or by pressing [Ctrl]K)
BUT I can not get one computer to work correctly. I have uninstalled Office Proffessional 2000 and reinstalled but what happens is when I type a hyperlink word converts my hyperlink to field codes. Nothing I do will make the hyperlink act as a hyperlink. I have to view the document in a browser to view hyperlinks. Any thoughts would be appriciated.
