Control Panal missing.

By TopesBlues ·
We have had some Win98 users loosing there control panels for no apparent reason. After talking to the administrator we have determined that it shouldnt be any kind of user rights or permissions issuses. It only happens to a few people, some not even connected to the network. Any ideas on why this is happening or how to get the control panel back would be appreciated

Remove the shortcut that points to the Control.exe file. Make sure that the
Control.exe file in the Windows folder is the current version. If the
Control.exe file in the Windows folder is not the current one, remove or rename
it and then extract the current file from the Windows disks or CD- ROM and place
it in the Windows folder.

look for a computer with a good control panel. Now in that computer, access the registry and save everything inside the CLSID and INTERFACE folders. Now copy all the .cpl files as well. Shove all this to some floppy disk. now install this info to every computer. Now every computer should function the same. If there are problems, then use MS-DOS mode. Go back to windows when you are done.
