Control Userpassword2 is not working

By eraser3498 ·
I've been noticing lately on some the Windows XP machines I've been working on that Control Userpassword2 is working properly when you uncheck user must enter an username and password to use this computer. When I do this and reboot the computer hangs on the screen Windows is Starting Up. I've also received the error message You do not have sufficent priviledge to log this user on. The user is a part of the Adminstrator's group so I don't see how this possible. If anyone has solution for this it would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

I see that you are a builder/reseller are you doing this on a customers site? Or is this at your company? It could be a GPO that is causing this or XP will only allow the administrator to do things, so if you need to change some settings you need to be logged in as the admin for the local computer.
I know that I will get flack for this but I have seen this on many computers at alot of diffrent sites. It has happened with company made images and fresh installs with the XP Pro CD's.
I use to think that there were diffrent versions of the XP CD's and there was no way to tell the difference.
But I the Tech pack from Microsoft and it did the same thing to me. I installed XP w/sp2 and server 2003 on a few computers and user123 which has admin rights on all computers can not do a few things. He gets access denied contact your admin.

double check and make sure this admin user is not part of the users group or any other group that has less permission then the administrators group. I have also seen this happen when the computer is part of a domain so be sure this admin user is also in the administrator group on the server. good luck

Bad command

by Kaai In reply to Control Userpassword2 is ...

That's don't work because of wrong command.
It's not 'control userpassword2' but,
'control userpasswords2'.
You missed 's' between 'd' and '2'.
